dc.description.abstract The oncogenes E6 and E7 from high-risk HPVs induce many cancers. Kiran et al. show that the E6 protein from oncogenic HPV associates with USP46 and directs USP46 to deubiquitinate and stabilize cellular proteins like Cdt2 to promote cell proliferation and tumor growth, making USP46 an attractive target for therapy.
