dc.description.abstract A variety of aromatic aldehydes were stereoselectively transformed into (E)-cinnamic acids via the reaction with ethyl bromoacetate and triphenylphosphine in the presence of catalytic amount of titanium tetrachloride, followed by hydrolysis and crystallization.
