dc.description.abstract Two-photon excitation spectra of a methylcyclohexane solution of triptycene using linearly and circularly polarized light are recorded. It is concluded from the polarisation dependence of the spectra that there exist two electronic states of different symmetry ≈2500 cm-1 apart. © 1987.
