Abstract
A short, flexible approach to a functionally embellished 7/8/5 fused tricyclic scaffold corresponding to the CDEF segment of Schisanartane nortriterpenoids, from commercially available 1,5-cyclooctadiene, is delineated. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
