N,N′-Bis(4-biphenylyl) urea

Abstract

The compound N,Ń-bis(4-biphenylyl)urea was synthesized regarding the study of crystal structure in urea structures. The compound was prepared by condensation of an aryl amine with triphosgene. Nitrogen was bubbled through the reaction mixture to displace any unreacted phosgene and the solvent was removed under vacuum. It was observed that the crystal structure of the compound had the N-H...O α-network typical of diaryl ureas.
