dc.description.abstract Exposure of spheroplasts of Synechococcus to ultraviolet-B radiation induced loss in whole chain electron transport and photosystem (PS) 2 electon transport activities without affecting PS1. The measurements of PS2 activities both at limiting and saturating irradiances indicated that alterations in light-harvesting complex of PS2 as well as alterations in reaction centre were responsible for the inhibition of PS2 activity during short-term exposure to UV-B radiation.
