dc.description.abstract In this paper we present a novel objective image quality measure that fully uses image's color information for the quality assessment of color quantized images. The proposed measure models any color quantization distortion as a combination of three similarities: color similarity, edge similarity, and structural similarity. We validate the performance of the proposed measure with an extensive subjective study involving 875 color quantized images and show that the new measure outperforms recent state-of-the-art image quality measures in the quality assessment of color quantization distortion. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
