dc.description.abstract LuFeO3 nanoparticles with and without La doping were synthesized using hydrothermal method. Detailed Rietveld refinement of x-ray data shows the decrease in hexagonal phase with increase in La doping. Microstructure shows particles with an average grain size of 40±10 nm. P-E as well as M-H measurements carried out at RT indicate the presence of ferroelectric as well as magnetic order in pure as well as La doped samples. La doping decreases the ferroelectric properties whereas an increase in magnetisation is observed.
