dc.description.abstract The dissociative electron attachment (DEA) to vibronically excited SO 2 in the Clements' band in the 288 to 298 nm region was analyzed. It was found that the presence of only one resonance in the entire range of photoexcitation and the negative ion yield over the vibrational ladder does not change with the increase in vibrational quantum number. It was observed that O- ion yield followed the photo absorption spectrum, indicating the DEA process to be independent of the vibrational levels in this band. The results show that the relative independence of the DEA cross section to the vibrational levels could be due to the neutral excited levels.
