Abstract
A rigorous classical calculation of the Hall effect is done for quasi-one-dimensional systems in weak magnetic fields. The final outcome dispels the notion that the observed quenching of the Hall effect in such systems could arise because of the electrons impinging frequently against the two edges of the system. The condition for the quenching is derived but it turns out to be too strict to be feasible.
