dc.description.abstract One-, two- and three-dimensional structural motifs, assembled via intermolecular non-covalent interactions in the crystalline state, of some square-planar and square-pyramidal copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes with tridentate Schiff bases and bidentate chiral reduced Schiff bases are described. The salient features of these structural motifs are π-stacking and metal ion spin exchange, intramolecular C-H⋯M interaction, solvent dependent zipper and columnar structures, enantiospecific inclusion of the guest molecules and perfectly polar alignment of host-guest species.
