Abstract
The ground state energy and binding energy of an off-centre neutral hydrogenic donor impurity (D0) trapped in a three-dimensional quantum dot with Gaussian confinement are obtained by a variational method as a function of the position of the impurity and the magnetic field. The binding energy in the presence of a magnetic field is also calculated. The results show that the binding energy decreases as the impurity moves away from the origin. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.
