dc.description.abstract The carboxylase activity of ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP) carboxylase/oxygenase released from freshly ruptured spinach chloroplasts was stimulated preferentially by Mg2+ while oxygenase activity was higher with Mn2+. Only Mg2+ could reactivate either activity of desalted enzyme. The results suggest that carboxylase and oxygenase activities of RuBP craboxylase/oxygenase can be modulated selectively by Mg2+ or Mn2+. © 1981 Oxford University Press.
