Abstract
Herewith, the first out-of-plane platinum(II) complex of dinaphthoporphycene (DNP) is reported. Instead of the usual N4 coordination, porphycene acts as a bidentate ligand and platinum(II) opts to coordinate across the ethylene bridge, forming a seven membered ring with the ligand. The planar ligand undergoes large deformation to adopt a bowl shape during complexation, while platinum(II) still maintaining the square planar geometry. Photophysical properties and electrochemical analysis of this complex are also explored.
