dc.description.abstract Photofabrication of surface relief microstructures in azobenzene functionalized polymer films are carried out. Photoinduced optical anisotropy along with an optical field induced gradient force leads to large amplitude surface relief structures in these photodynamic polymers. Based on the periodic pattern formed, two representative polarization device applications are discussed.
