dc.description.abstract Coupling of acrylonitrile to α-keto esters is readily achieved using 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]-octane(DABCO) as a catalyst to produce 2-[1-carboalkoxy-1-hydroxyalkyl]acrylonitriles in good yields. Similar reaction with methyl acrylate produces the corresponding 2-substituted acrylates. © 1987.
