dc.description.abstract The synthesis and structure of a novel decanuclear copper(II) cage was carried out. The assembly of the cage was facilitated by the cumulative coordinative interaction of tert-butyl phosphonate, 2-pyridylpyrazole and hydroxide ligands with copper(II) ions. The entire cage consisted of several rings that are fused with each other with and without the aid of bridging atoms. The cage also consisted or higher-membered rings. The tunability of the synthetic strategy will also allow the synthesis of the other multi-metal assemblies.
