Abstract
The author advocates use of the term pseudopolymorph. (1) The word has been around for 40 years. (2) Its meaning is clear enough to researchers in chemistry, pharmacology, and crystallography. (3) Polymorphs and pseudopolymorphs have immense legal implications for the pharmaceutical industry. (4) Pseudopolymorphs are a kind of polymorph because they behave in very similar ways. © 2006 American Chemical Society.
