dc.description.abstract Syntheses and properties of a series of mononuclear manganesc(IV) complexes with N-benzoyl-N'-salicylidenehydrazine and its substituted derivatives as ligands are reported The dianionic planar ligands bind the metal ion meridionally through phenolate-O, imine-N and deprotonated amide-O atoms. EPR spectra of the complexes are characteristic of an axial MnO4N2 coordination sphere Electronic spectral features and the metal centred redox potentials are significantly influenced by the electronic nature of the substituents on the ligands.
