Abstract
Mesoporous magnetic nanocarriers have shown great potential for targeted drug delivery. Here, we have prepared mesoporous silica (mSiO2) and MnFe2O4 based magnetic nanocomposites (MnFe2O4@mSiO2) for biomedical application. MnFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by two different methods viz. co-precipitation and thermal decomposition method and both were further incorporated in mSiO2 by stober method. XRD, TEM and VSM results confirmed the formation of uniform, crystalline and superparamagnetic MnFe2O4 NPs (size 5-8 nm) and MnFe2O4@mSiO2 nanocomposite (size 100-275 nm) for thermal decomposition method. Superparamagnetic MnFe2O4@mSiO2 nanocomposite with discrete nature, spherical shape and suitable particle size could have potential applications in targeted drug delivery.
