Abstract
Reaction of methyl vinyl ketone with a variety of aldehydes, catalyzed by 1,4-diazabicyclo (2.2.2)octane (DABCO) in tetrahydrofuran, conveniently provides the corresponding α-methylene-β-hydroxyalkanones in good yields. © 1986.
