dc.description.abstract A brand new vehicle's operational safety as compared to a vehicle in service for several years is expected to be better. As a vehicle ages, sustained operational safety of the driver, passengers and the vehicle are of at most importance. In this paper, we shall view from a systems perspective, the parameters that account for the vehicle deterioration and present an analysis to determine the vehicle safety particularly at high speeds. Based on the analysis, a framework using neural networks and a rule based system is presented for enhancing the driver's ability to perceive danger.
