dc.description.abstract We demonstrate here the universal behavior of the fundamental intergranular matrix susceptibility (m) in terms of a single parameter () in the 110 K phase of the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system, in the regime where flux profile is linear in the sample. Following the observation of universality of the third harmonic susceptibility 3(T,Hdc)Hac by Shatz et al. in Y-Ba-Cu-O, we have examined the field and temperature dependences of (Hdc,Hac)T and (T,Hdc)Hac, respectively, measured in Bi1.2Pb0.3Sr1.5Ca2Cu3Oy superconductor. Our analysis shows that the field dependence of Jc is better described, for the present sample, by the power-law model and also demonstrates the universality of m in terms of . © 1995 The American Physical Society.
