dc.description.abstract Rhodobacter sphaeroides OU5 transformed anthranilate (2 mM) to an indole (0.7 mM) in a light-dependent process. Photobiotransformation was enhanced by tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediates and the indole formed was identified as 2,3 dihydroxy indole.
