Occurence of anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria in some paddy fields of Andhra Pradesh, India

dc.description.abstract	A survey of anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria in a few paddy-soils of Andhra Pradesh, India demonstrated the absence of purple-sulfur bacteria and the members of Heliobacteriaceae. Only purple non-sulfur bacteria were found and their number ranged from 106 - 1010 cfu g-1 dry soil. Their occurence was independent of soil parameters tested.
