dc.description.abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) play very important role in development of smart cities and communication infrastructure. However due to its open nature WSNs are vulnerable to several kinds of attacks. One of the most important concern is a node inside the network getting compromised and behaving against the network policy. This leads to taking up wrong decisions by the nodes and the purpose of the sensor network is not served. Trust computation models are very effective to mitigate the internal attacks. In this paper we propose a differential method for evaluation of direct trust which uses the hysteresis curve for effective trust evaluation. We use the property of hysteresis curve to assess the trust value of a neighboring node based on its forwarding behavior. We compare the proposed method with the cos function.
