Abstract
A recent quantum Hall-effect experiment on a sample whose dimensions are of the order of mesoscopic length scales has shown periodic oscillations in the minima of magnetoresistance corresponding to plateaus i=2 and 4. It is shown that this result is a manifestation of a recent prediction made by this author wherein a phase-driven current in the transverse direction can mix the two edge currents and give rise to quantum interference. © 1990, Elsevier Science Publishers B.V.
