Abstract
In this work, Ag and Fe3O4 NPs embedded and P(Nipam) coated mesoporous silica (mSiO2@Ag-Fe3O4@P(Nipam) NC) based magnetically controllable and thermoresponsive nanocomposite has been synthesized and characterized for structural, microstructural and magnetic properties. First, mSiO2-Ag-Fe3O4 NC was prepared by simple sol gel process using Ag NPs, Fe3O4 NPs, TEOS, and CTAB. mSiO2@Ag-Fe3O4@P(Nipam) NC was prepared by in situ coating of P(Nipam) on the surface of mSiO2@Ag-Fe3O4 in the presence of oxidizer and crosslinker. TEM and FTIR analysis confirm the presence of AgNPs and Fe3O4 NPs in silica nanosphere and reveal the coating of P(Nipam) polymer. This smart nanocomposite could be very useful as intelligent antimicrobial agent and for targeted chemo-photothermal therapy.
